Sonic Mutations
Originally commissioned by the Sydney Opera House for the Outlines Festival in July 2023 and later featured at SXSW Sydney in October 2023,Sonic Mutations is a collaborative AI performance project developed with artists Alexis Weaver and Rowan Savage (salllvage). Throughout the performance, each artist welds the creative enigma of KOUP Music, a generative AI music tool and remix engine.
United by a theory that AI has the potential to unlock new realms of musical expression, the project explores themes of identity, control and the emergence of new AI entities, affectionately named “Crowan” and “AI-Lexis”. This collaboration represents a dynamic fusion of art, technology, and music, showcasing the limitless possibilities when human creativity intersects with AI innovation. We hope that Sonic Mutations continues to evolve and push the boundaries of creativity and technology, captivating audiences as an artist-led experience.
